I started using the Brushing Cutlass (grass whip) when I was just 9yrs old and I was taught how to make one when I turned 14yrs. Over the years, I have made significant upgrades on the design of my Brushing Cutlass which created remarkable and noticeable improvements in the efficiency with respect to the swing and cutting capabilities. This tool is handcrafted, which allows each piece to be carefully built and adjusted for variations in the hickory handles. Best of all, they are proudly made here in the wonderful United States Of America.
All of the materials used for my Brushing Cutlasses, Gilpins, hunting knives and cutlery are sourced locally. I make the trip each time to Tennessee Hickory to personally select handles based on looks, grain and density of the wood. Steel of various types are ordered and purchased locally. Each piece of steel is forged, professionally heat treated and finished with a signature look seen exclusively at TheBrushingCutlassCo - especially pieces bearing the signature wire bindings.
I make a high quality product meant to be a reflection of what can be done right here in the United States of America with diligence and purposeful effort.
I believe in customer satisfaction and seeking the necessary training to ensure that my products are the highest quality possible
